From the 23rd until the 28th of July, the U-22 Women’s European Championship (VI.) will be held in Trnava, Slovakia.

With an amazing number of 17 teams participating (which is a record), this is expected to be a great tournament. This event may turn into a great opportunity to promote softball in Slovakia as this is also their strongest category, and their first time organizing a European event. The teams will be divided into four groups for the Round Robin games.

We may welcome eight (!) countries who will participate in this age category for the very first time. Austria, Belgium, Great Britain, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Switzerland, and Turkey will all strive to leave a good first impression. Italy will accept the challenge again since their last participation in 2010.

It will be interesting to find out who’s bringing home the title this year. Will it be the Netherlands, who participated for the first time in 2016 and immediately took home the gold medal? Will it be the Czech Republic or Russia who ended up in the top three almost all editions, or will one of the newcomers be the big surprise?
