European players in the ISC World Tournament
The International Softball Congress (ISC) World tournament has just started in Kitchener, Ontario. The purpose of the ISC is to create an interest and to promote men’s and boys’ fastpitch softball.
Several Team Europe and other European players had a fantastic start on Friday. Kim Hansen (Kegal Black Knights) threw a no-hit shutout with 17 strikeouts! Michal Holobradek (Bear Bottom Lodge) also had a fine day with a two-hit shutout and 12 strikeouts. The winning Bear Bottom Lodge team has three other Czech players; Mikulas Klas, Marek Maly and Karel Kadecka.
Valdemar Terkelsen (Pueblo Bandits) had a fine day at the plate by hitting two home runs. James Derby hit a huge three-run shot for his Niagara Snappers club. Winning pitcher for the Snappers: Kyle Linton with 14 strikeouts in six innings. For the losers in this game, Richard Haldane pitched 3.2 innings for the Grande Prairie Pirates, striking out seven batters.
