The ESF President Gabriel Waage communicated to National Federations and Clubs the consequences following the tough decision of cancelling all the Fast pitch Cup competitions.

  • The 2020 Ranking will be used for 2021 since there are no results from this season. This means the same number of spots from 2020 will be available for each country in all fast pitch Cup Competitions in 2021.
  • ESF will also give the first right to all Organizers of Cups 2020 to host allocated Cup in 2021, allowing them an actual opportunity to host.
  • Individual entries to each Softball Europe Competition are the sole right of National Federations. The process of entries for Cups 2021 will be based on our regulations and the NFs will have the right to decide before December 31, 2020.

This means that no club entered for Cups 2020 have reserved their spot in 2021 Cups, and the appointment is the sole right of NFs for each year. The only exceptions are the defending Champions. The Champions from 2019 SE Cups have the right to defend this title in 2021.

Waage comments the notice: "I would like to share with all of you my feelings as this was one of the hardest decisions in my life. I feel we, as Softball Europe including all the leaders of National Federations are here to create a place for Softball to the best of our ability throughout every corner of Europe. Cancellation of our Cups is surely not the ideal option, but we didn’t have any other choice. This decision was taken to allow all the European National Federations enough time to secure their softball programs with no pressure of international events."
